Check It Out! My 7 Favorite Things

Feb 24, 2015 | 1 comment

Hey there,

How’s your week going? Mine is getting off with a bang.

Today, I’m waiting around for a big delivery. We purchased a new washer and dryer set over the weekend. Our dryer sounds like a diesel engine. It’s very LOUD to say the least.

So, while I wait around, I’m having some fun today with my first ever Favorite Things post. Thought I’d share what makes me happy in my world. I’m just spreading the love, so enjoy.

1. Fitbit Flex

My coworkers got me wearing one of these. I’m absolutely loving it. It’s the Fitbit Flex. It measures your steps, and I’ve found it to be very accurate. Fitbit has other products that do more. Through their portal, you can setup challenges with your friends. It’s fun to have a little friendly rivalry. The benefit of wearing this device is that it makes you very aware of your activity level. You know how it is? You get busy at work or doing something else and before you know it, you haven’t hardly moved throughout the day. I give this a thumbs up for sure. You can learn more about Fitbit here.

2. Classic Glo Bar

What can I say? This granola bar is the bomb and so easy to make. I’ve been trying to wean my family off processed granola bars. Not and easy task. When I came across this recipe from Oh She Glows, I fell in love. The recipe is very versatile. I don’t use the chia seeds because they get stuck in my daughter’s braces. I’ve also used a variety of peanut butters. And I don’t always use gluten-free rolled oats. My youngest son is a very selective eater, and he likes these a lot. If you’re trying to break the process food habit, try this bar. I found it in Angela Liddon’s The Oh She Glows Cookbook.

3. Hard Surface and Bathroom Cleaner Spray by Ava Anderson

Ok. It’s time to get serious about your bathroom cleaners. Prior to using Ava Anderson non toxic products, I was getting very bad headaches and I felt very tired after cleaning my bathrooms. My symptoms came from the toxic smells in my old products. My neighbor introduced me to Ava Anderson about 2 years ago, and I love them. This bathroom cleaner works great and smells nice, too. I have experienced no headaches or any other ill-health related symptoms since starting to use this product. Learn more about Ava Anderson here.

4. PiYo Workout

My sister and I started PiYo together. We were looking for a new workout and decided to give it a try. I’m a month in a half into the program. I’ve noticed a tremendous change in my flexibility. My hips feel less tight, too. As women, we tend to carry a lot of stress in our hips, and I was definitely noticing it before PiYo. My core strength is also much improved. Most workouts are within 30 minutes, which works great for me. My favorite workout called Drench is longer, so I save that one for the weekend. If you want to loosen up those muscles and gain some flexibility, give PiYo a try.

5. Vitamix Classic Blender

Would not want to live without this guy. I use it everyday. It’s not cheap, though, and was not a purchase that I made on a whim. I saved my money for about four months. I shopped around to find the best deal. It wasn’t easy handing over that much cash for a blender, but I have had no regrets. I use it primarily for smoothies and have also used it for soups and to make cream sauces. Learn more about Vitamix here.

6. Baby Massage and Body Lotion by Ava Anderson

Product No. 2 by Ava Anderson, I told you I’m crazy about these non toxic products. This body lotion ROCKS. I’ve experienced very dry skin this winter. I could not find anything that would solve my dry itchy skin problems. I decided to try this baby body lotion, and I can’t tell you how much I’m loving the way my skin feels. No more itchy skin! Woohoo! This product has zero toxic chemicals, is lightweight, and absorbent.

7. Wreck This Journal

So, I know what you’re thinking, “Isn’t that book for kids?” And the answer is most likely, “Yes.” But I believe even as an adult, we need some let your hair down fun. This book offers a great outlet to my everyday life. It’s nice to journal in something completely unrelated to work or life. I can be a bit of a perfectionist and this book allows for zero perfectionism. You are literally suppose to wreck it up. I’ve also found it has helped with my creativity, gets me thinking outside of the box. I wrote about clarity recently in this post. You may find it useful. If you’re looking to relax those brain muscles, then give this book or one like it a try. You can learn more about the author and Wreck This Journal here.

This is one of the most fun posts I’ve written. It’s good to just have some good ole fun sharing what makes me happy in my life with you.

Now, it’s your turn to share, what things make you happy?

Cheers and Blessings,

Beth
