What’s Lurking behind that Corner?
When I was in middle school and high school, I ran track. I LOVED jumping hurdles. I always called myself a hurdler not a runner. There was something about that challenge of getting out of the blocks and attacking that first jump over the hurdle. I loved the thrill and precision needed to adequately get over each and every hurdle. I guess that explains a lot about who I am and how I approach my life.
Well, today I feel like I’ve jumped at least two hurdles since starting this blog.
I’m so excited right now!
I’ve been working on this blog since September 2014. It started out as an idea. I needed a creative outlet. My desire to learn something new was bigger than I could imagine. One day I told Brian and I mentioned to my sister, Balinda, that I was going to start a blog. Both of them said “go for it” in their own words.
I knew nothing about blogging. I hardly knew where to start. I began journaling my ideas and thoughts. That process, journaling, has been so helpful. My confidence is growing. Researching, applying what I’ve learned, trial and error, and keeping at it has kept me wanting to make this happen. There’s something about those “Aha!” moments that just keep you going.
That’s why I’m so excited about today.
I feel like I’ve turned a big corner; jumped one of those hurdles. The kind of corner that definitely leads you down a new path. I’ve learned so much. My confidence has grown, and I truly feel like this is going to happen.
Within the last couple weeks, I’ve finally learned how to set my logo, create pages, create posts, insert pictures, create menus, add customization, and put a social icon on my pages. I even started an Instagram account for USimplyBeam. Once I figure it out, whatever it is that I want to do, it’s not that hard. It’s just sticking to it and not getting hung up on the imperfections.
I love the quote, “Strive for Progress not Perfection.” I have no idea who said it, but it’s a great affirmation when challenging yourself.
I feel like I’m getting to the point where I can actually start to serve others. Now, I just need to get some visitors. Ha. Ha. I look forward to the first visitor who actually reads my blog and gets something from it.
Some Plans for 2015
I’m working on some goals for 2015.

- Learn how to get visitors through SEO.
- Improve my images and figure out how to make the files not so big but keep the resolution.
- Would like to rework My Story page so that it’s easier to read.
- Write fabulous content that my visitors will enjoy reading.
Cheers and Blessings,
